For the benefit of patients.
OUR ASPIRATION

For the benefit of patients.

Gene and cell therapies (GCTs) have the potential to transform the lives of patients and revolutionize the way we manage diseases and healthcare. They are highly innovative therapies that aim to prevent, stop, or reverse disease progression by addressing its root cause – and to make the treatment of presently untreatable diseases possible.

Going beyond. Together.

The Berlin Center for Gene and Cell Therapies, jointly initiated by Bayer and Charité, will be a unique hub within an inspiring biotech ecosystem. It combines a cutting-edge incubator with state-of-the-art laboratories and GMP manufacturing facilities, offices and communal spaces, as well as specialized mentoring programs to support every phase - from research to realization.

The incubator area

The incubator is the heart of the hub, fully equipped with everything start-ups need, from ready-to-use labs and modern offices, to joint working areas and conference rooms. Spanning a large 5,000 square meters, this is the ideal environment to thrive. Custom service agreements are available for lab benches and desks, which are vital for the preclinical stage.

ProBioGen will operate the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) - Manufacturing unit commissioned by the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH).
With a view towards the clinical trial stage, start-ups have the opportunity from the very start to interact closely with experts from the GMP facility and smoothly transfer their pre-GMP process development to larger scales. Tenants of the incubator get preferential access to the seven production rooms, totaling 4.600 square meters.
